The Bharata Natya training programme
at Kala Bharati is made up of two parts: basic training and training for
Ranga Pravesh. The basic training programme is for all students and starts at the age of four when the student enters the KinKini level. It ends at the Padmakosha level, typically at the age of about 16. There are two levels in between called Adi and Mukula. After the Padmakosha level the student graduates to the Alapadma level where the Ranga Pravesh training is offered to those who meet some defined criteria. The duration of this part of the programme is variable and depends on many factors, most important of which is the effort the student is willing to put in. The training programme can be regarded as being made up of strands of training, each strand increasing in size and strength as the student progresses from Kinkini to Ranga Pravesh. |
